About Amory, MS - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in Monroe County, Amory, Mississippi is a smaller city with a population of about 8,500 people. The city lies about 17 miles west of the Mississippi and Alabama state borders. Amory was the first planned city in the state of Mississippi and was established in 1887. The city was established as a result of the need for a midpoint between Memphis, Tennessee, and Birmingham, Alabama by the Kansas City-Memphis-Birmingham Railroad.
Although Amory is a smaller city, there are several things to see and do. The city has two golf courses, two community centers, and many ball fields. The Amory Regional Museum is dedicated to preserving and curating the city’s history. The museum is located in an old sanitarium that operated in the early 60s. Housed in the museum are many artifacts that showcase both the city’s and the area’s uniqueness. The community also enjoys the annual Railroad Festival held each spring.
Amory enjoys mild winters due to the city’s location in a humid subtropical climate. The months of December, January, and February are mild compared to the rest of the United States. These months have average daytime temperatures that range from the mid to low-50s. However, despite the usually mild temperatures in the area, Amory can still experience cold snaps and even snow. Residents need to be prepared for colder temperatures by investing in a heat pump or furnace.
Summers in Amory tend to be very warm and humid. Due to the high humidity levels that are common in the area, the air can feel warmer that it truly is. Residents will want to invest in a cooling system that is capable of keeping indoor temperatures comfortable while the warmer weather is in the area. Residents will also want to maintain regular maintenance on their cooling systems to ensure they are running at peak performance.
